Terms & Conditions


All items hired remain the property of Ticklepenny Teacups at all times; with the exception of disposable items such as paper straws.  All items are washed and inspected by Ticklepenny Teacups before the period of hire commences.

The standard period of hire is 1-4 days as agreed on booking.  Extensions to this may be possible subject to availability and will be charged at 20% of the original fee per day.  Extensions must be agreed with Ticklepenny Teacups.

The customer is responsible for all items hired thoughout the period of hire.  Items are used at the hirer’s risk and Ticklepenny Teacups accepts no responsibility for injury to persons or damage to property caused during use.


A 50% deposit must be paid to Ticklepenny Teacups at the time of booking and will secure the date and items agreed.  This can be made by bank transfer, cash or cheque.  The balance must be paid on or before the first day of the hire period.

Delivery & Collection

Ticklepenny Teacups prices include free delivery and collection at an agreed time and place within a 30 mile radius of Horncastle, Lincolnshire.  Distances further than this will be charged at 20p per mile, and the costs will be notified to the customer before a booking is made.  Alternatively, customers may arrange to collect and/or deliver the items direct at our address in Minting, Lincolnshire at an agreed time.

The china is delicate and is not dishwasher or microwave safe.  The hire charges include washing up, but all items must be scraped or emptied of food and liquids before being packed up safely for collection in the boxes supplied.   If any items are washed up, please do so by hand.

By separate arrangement, Ticklepenny Teacups can set out the china at the event venue and pack it up afterwards.   Please ask about the charges for this.


Vintage china is delicate and accidents can happen.  When delivering an order, Ticklepenny Teacups always carries a couple of extra items in case of breakages on the journey.  Hirers must notify Ticklepenny Teacups if any damage occurs during the hire period.

There will be a charge of £5 per item for any missing or damaged items, apart from teapots, coffeepots and cake stands which will be charged at £15 each.


Cancellation of a booking must be made in writing (by email or paper) to Ticklepenny Teacups.

The hirer’s 50% deposit will be refunded if a cancellation is made more than 30 days in advance of the hire period, minus a £10 administration fee.

Customers cancelling 30 days or less before the hire period will forfeit their 50% deposit.
